Naturalists Notes 11-7-17
November 7, 2017
Today we hopped aboard the Salacia and set out to explore southern Jefferys Ledge. All passengers who braved the cold winds were rewarded when we found 7-9 scattered humpbacks! For the most part, these whales were keeping a low profile by taking long non-fluking dives. The high winds camouflaging their blows and the whales’ inconspicuous behavior made it quite difficult for us to even find them in the first place! But thanks to some impressive spotting by our passengers, we were able to get some great looks and identified Echo, Exclaim, and Tines among the whales around us. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the water soon!
